Aussies are not hairy enough, not rude enough, not angry enough and are lacking in the mass anal bunting stakes? http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2009/jul/24/ashes-australia-swearing-hairiness

“So to Dirk Wellham, state captain, Test centurion (and moustache sporter), turned schoolteacher and thinker. Writing of Allan Border’s captaincy technique a few years ago, Wellham described the central place the word “fucking” played in forging a formidable Aussie team, observing: “[The] reliance on strong, decisive, male, independent players is symbolic of ‘fucking’, and the absence of collective psychology. Paradoxically, fucking can also be a group, sharing arrangement, of mateship.”

To be honest, I am not quite sure what Dirk is driving at here, but it seems to me his advice to Ponting would be: use more expletives and cut out the occasional net practice in favour of an orgy. Over to you, Punter.”

Has Sri Lanka got the concept of ‘dead rubber’ exactly backwards? http://www.cricinfo.com/slvpak2009/content/current/story/414862.html

Vaas returns, Suraj is left out. On the other hand, mayhap they are just placating him and he will be left out on the morning of the test anyway. As an aside, it would seem that old Ajantha will conveniently get a stay of execution for the third test.

Have online mixtapes finally died? The last one I knew of, favtape, seems to have gone offline and prior to that of course mixwit and muxtape both died. Have the record companies actually won then? Tell me I’m wrong…

      I pity the kids.

    • hogwash 3:55 pm on July 15, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Yes, but last.fm only has musics that you have already, no? I use it for other things. Not really mixtape country, no?

      • thevegetarian 4:12 pm on July 15, 2009 Permalink | Reply

no, you can make playlists out of anything they have on their servers, which is quite a lot these days

        • Capt. Pig Leg 4:16 pm on July 15, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Yes, but you can’t stream that outside the US and a couple of other privileged countries without playing some subscription fee per month.

          Right?

But fuck those guys. I’ve always hated streaming shit. Even the various online mixtapes were more of a nine days wonder

US, UK and Germany, I think. No Canucks, no Sri Lankans, no Indians, no Japanese. Stand in line like the rest of us, citizen

What?! Jerries and no Canucks. That’s an outrage!

There’s also drop.io, but you can only make playlists of stuff you upload yourself

I love drop.io, but flash uploaders still break Firefox in my hippie operating system

The Manchester City revolution continues http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/8149488.stm I hope one of their prima donnas gets in a hissy fit because there are too many high profile strikers to go around now: Tevez, Adebayor, Santa Cruz, Robinho and that doesn’t count the lesser strikers – Bellamy, for one.

    • Capt. Pig Leg 3:30 pm on July 15, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Robinho will probably throw his toys out of the pram every so often. Also, boo to Arsene for unloading without having a replacement frontman lined up and signed

Also, I don’t get why all the Arsenal fans are celebrating. I mean, seriously. Adebayor was shite for at least a couple of seasons (three, if I’m counting) vs one very good season where he kept Arsenal in the hunt. The odds are that he would have had yet another indifferent season ahead.

But balanced against this is the consistent outmuscling of Arsenal upfront and the lack of a good strike force pairing. van Persie is injury prone. All the midfielders are runts (Fabregas, Rosicky and Arshavin). Gah, I say.

Citeh are a massive club. Arsene Wenger knows. These are indisputable football facts.
